Roseisle 2012

Bon Accord Steam Engine Club members travelled north to the Roseisle rally 2012, Sam Barrack reports.

Laigh o’ Moray Vintage Association enjoyed a very successful rally on the 23rd of September at Inchkeil Steading, Roseisle near Elgin.

12 full-sized engines were in attendance, Mark Allan of Burnhervie was delighted to put his newly acquired Sentinel steam waggon through its paces and joined a few other engines on a run to Burghead on Saturday afternoon. Mark’s Sentinel was delivered from Bedford by Stuart Ritchie of Hettton-le-Hole County Durham. Keith Collins also hitched a ride up with his Fowler T3 steam tractor.

Mark’s Sentinel has recently had a full boiler re-build by the previous owner Harold Bell of Leven in Yorkshire.

Alfie Cheyne of Turriff gave a display of power when he coupled his Fowler and Aveling engines together, the heavier Fowler showed off its advantage.

Everyone enjoyed the late summer weather and were very grateful to the organizers and supporters for arranging the event.
